How to style a Basic: The White Shirt

So we have come to a third basic item a white shirt, which style of white shirt is completely up to your own style. Is it the very classic button-down shirt, or do you like a modern twist choose one with longer cuffs, for a more relaxed idea you can go for soft boho chic.
My white shirt, which I made myself, is in my eyes a combination of these last two. Modern because it has the detail of the longer cuffs but I used a softer, little bit see through, fabric which adds a pop a boho.
The combination of a white shirt with a dress has been very popular these last few months. Mostly they combine the shirt with a Slip Dress. The red dress that I am wearing has many resemblances to a Slip Dress, but it is made from a different fabric. The traditional Slip Dress is made out of silk, mine is made from cotton.

I made both items that I'm wearing, the dress was for a wedding I attended last year and I finished the white shirt just a couple of months ago.

Week Review #1

I've changed up my lay-out for my bullet-journal, I choose to place a whole week on two pages. This on one hand gives me less place to write all my bullets but gives me open spaces to decorate when I don't have many bullets. That's why I introduced the Weekly Goals box, items that I work on more than one day a week. Pro's & con's but I'm going to stick with this for a few weeks and see if I keep enjoying making these pages.

I had a pretty productive and fun week, had the chance to tick off a box on my summer wishlist. On Monday there were some chores on the list. Near the end of the day I ended up in the city centre and walked home with something from Primark.

Tuesday was nothing special because I just worked the whole day.
On Wednesday I discovered Pokémon Go, which meant more walking around to catch them all and make the eggs hatch. I have a lot of fun with it. I ended the day with a session in the gym. I'm not going as regular as before, the reason is that I'm working a lot more.

Thursday I went to Antwerp to explore the city (and catch some pokémon). But mostly because I wanted to visit the MUHKA for some interesting exhibitions.

I didn't really had a weekend. I had to work friday to sunday, which also includes waking up early and going to bed on time.

Friday for Photography: Vivian Maier

Vivian Maier- Self-Portrait (1954)

Vivian Maier (1926-2009) was born in United States in 1926. Her mother was from France and it is there that Vivian grows up. It is also there that she first picks up a camera.  In 1951 she moved to New York and in 1956 she moved to Chicago. She worked as a nanny and photography was merely a hobby. But after the kids grew up, she fell into poverty. She stocked many unprinted rolls into lockers, the content of which was auctioned off.  Her work was rediscovered in 2007 and became popular in a very short amount of time. From archive material researchers are trying to determine which and how Maier would have wanted to print the many rolls that were found.

She basically took her camera everywhere and gives a nice reportage of living in America from the '50 until the 90's. Her most favored subject-matter where the lesser fortuned, besides that she also took a great deal of self-portraits.

Summer Sensations

What a great weekend it was!! Here in Belgium it has been a wait to actually experience the warmth and sun of real summer. But this weekend was just great, so on Saturday I decided to be outside most of the day and prepared for a day in the parc. I love spending time in parc, especially since I don't have a garden, playing some ping-pong, doing some sketching and just enjoying the sun. To be comfortable throughout the day I chose some shorts and a loose shirt, so the body can still breath and feel the wind underneath. I tucked my shirt in the front so you could see the detail of the tied strings and just see more of the shorts.
